Will You Give Your Wig an Unique Name?

A lot of people like to give their favorite things beautiful names. But have you ever named your wigs—or do you just call them “my wigs”?

I was recently rewatching the 2018 TV series The Neighborhood, and one thing made me smile all over again: Tina names all of her wigs. She doesn’t just see them as hair—she calls them her girls.

In the show, Tina gives each wig its own name and personality. For example, Lola is her short wig, and Kiki is her medium-length afro wig. (And honestly, I’m sure there are more names we could add to the list!)

Naming wigs isn’t just a TV thing, either. Many people name their wigs Sylvia, Hattie, Joan, Amy, Eleanor, Mia, Claire, Rosie, Maud, and more. Each name reflects a mood, a look, or a moment in life.

Some people say naming wigs is “creepy.” But honestly? Life is short. If something brings you joy, confidence, or a little extra fun, why not enjoy it? Wigs are more than hair—they’re self-expression, creativity, and sometimes even protection or healing.

So if you want to name your wigs, name them proudly. Don’t worry about what anyone else thinks. Do what makes you feel happy, beautiful, and confident.

After all, your hair—your rules.
